Mobile integrated health (MIH) and community paramedicine are emerging health care models that deliver health care outside of traditional settings like hospitals and clinics.
By delivering health care in homes and community settings using providers like community paramedics, there is an opportunity to help address growing workforce shortages, expand access to care and improve patient outcomes.
Speakers:
Doris Boeckman, co-founder and one of three Community Asset Builders, LLC partners, has over 35 years of experience in healthcare. Community Asset Builders is a Washington County Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Network member, and Doris is a founding board member. She is also active at the state and national levels in promoting MIH expansion and sustainability. In the past 23 years, the Community Asset Builders team has brought hundreds of millions in grant resources to Missouri to improve healthcare.
Justin Duncan serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Washington County Ambulance District, a regional mobile healthcare system in rural Missouri. In addition, Chief Duncan is the President of the Missouri EMS Association (MEMSA), the Chair of the Missouri State Advisory Council – EMS, Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Sub-Committee, a founding member of the Washington County MIH Network, and a founding member of the Reynolds County MIH Network.
Chris White serves as the Advanced Practice Paramedic Supervisor for the CHAPP program. This program was developed to provide in-home care with the hope of minimizing the number of emergency department visits for select patients. CHAPP Paramedics, or Community Paramedics, are highly trained and work directly with the patient’s physicians. These paramedics provide basic and advanced care in the patient’s home, arrange scheduled physician visits, obtain needed services and equipment, and educate patients on how to better care for themselves.
Shelby Cox is the Senior EMS Consultant for Community Asset Builders and the Missouri EMS Association Executive Director. She serves as the secretary of the MIH Subcommittee of the State EMS Advisory Council and is the lead planner for the Missouri EMS Conference & Expo. She is a Nationally Registered Paramedic with more than 25 years of experience.
