Social Worker Core Training:
Modules will include:
Hospice Regulation/Concept – Christi Lero, MSW, LCSW
Bereavement- Jackie Bustamante, LBSW
Interdisciplinary Team, Role, Boundaries- Stephanie Clark, MSW, LCSW
Psychosocial, Assessments, Care Plans- Meghan O’Conner MSW, LCSW
Interventions, Documentation – Tammy Forbeck, BSW, MEd
Outcomes:
The overall objective for attendees is education in hospice regulations, levels or care, as well as nursing home requirements and regulations. Attendees will learn how to develop a thorough hospice psychosocial assessment, identify short term therapeutic interventions and how to develop a social work plan of care in the hospice setting. Instructors will explain the team concept in the hospice setting and the role of the social worker, as well as describe a normal grief process. Speakers will explore documentation and identify areas of stress and develop a plan of care for our own wellbeing. This is a basic course for the beginning social worker with less than two years experience.

Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association, #1359, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 2/28/2023 – 2/28/2026. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social workers participating in this training will receive up to 7.5 continuing education clock hours.
